The Chandigarh State Transport Authority has suspended the aggregator licences of the four large app-based cab platforms that most Tricity riders used.

This page is a 19Cabs news note, not a government notice. We summarise what the STA orders (as reported in the press) mean for booking a cab, auto, or bike taxi in Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula — and we publish the official notified fare table we apply on 19Cabs.

If you searched cabs in Chandigarh this week, that is likely why.

What the STA suspended

Press reports of STA orders under Rule 17 of the Chandigarh Administration Motor Vehicles Aggregators Rules, 2025:

  • Ola (ANI Technologies) — suspended 17 June 2026, for six months (until December 2026)
  • InDrive — suspended 10 August 2026, for six months (until February 2027)
  • Uber — suspended 8 September 2026, for six months (until March 2027)
  • Rapido — suspended 8 September 2026, for six months (until March 2027)

Reported reasons include fare non-compliance, insurance shortfalls for drivers (especially bike-taxi captains), use of non-commercial vehicles, and local-office issues. Treat the STA order as the legal source; this article is a rider guide.

Who can you still book?

Press coverage names Bharat Taxi (Sahkari Taxi Cooperative) as a licensed platform that remains operating in the Union Territory. 19Cabs is not claiming to be the only remaining service, and we are not STA-endorsed.

On 19Cabs you can request bike, auto, or cab in Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula when a partner is online at your pickup. Open the app and check availability before you leave the kerb. We do not guarantee a match.

Official notified fares (7 July 2025)

19Cabs uses the Chandigarh Administration fare table for trips with pickup or drop in Chandigarh, Mohali, or Panchkula. We do not charge above this table. Discount will not go more than 20% below the notified fare. Drivers keep at least 80% of the fare; 19Cabs commission is at most 20%.

  • Cab / taxi (4+1 or below): ₹90 for the first 3 km, then ₹25 per km
  • Large cab / taxi (6+1 or above): ₹100 for the first 3 km, then ₹28 per km
  • Bike taxi: ₹30 for the first 3 km, then ₹9 per km
  • Ordinary auto (including e-autos / e-rickshaws): ₹50 for the first 3 km, then ₹13 per km

Minimum charge is the first 3 km even if the trip is shorter. Toll and parking are extra when they apply. GST on the aggregator share is borne by 19Cabs and is not added on the rider fare.

How to book on 19Cabs

  1. Download the rider app from 19cabs.com/download (Android Play Store or iPhone App Store).
  2. Set pickup in Chandigarh, Mohali, or Panchkula — pin the kerb, not a gali.
  3. Choose bike, auto, cab, or more than one vehicle type on the same request.
  4. Confirm the upfront fare. It must stay within the notified table.
  5. If no partner accepts, wait or try again. Do not assume the app will invent supply.

What 19Cabs will not say

  • We will not say the Administration recommended 19Cabs.
  • We will not say other licensed operators do not exist.
  • We will not promise a car if no captain is online.

The search spike is real. A completed ride still depends on a partner at your pin.
